"Imagination is more important than knowledge." - Albert Einstein

  Welcome

Dr. Khoa Luu has recently moved to University of Arkansas as an Assistant Professor in the CSCE Department. He was the Research Project Director in Cylab Biometrics Center at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), USA. He leads biometric projects and collaborates with graduate students and research scholars to build stand-alone biometric systems. He received his Ph.D degree in Computer Science at Concordia University, Montreal City, Canada. His Ph.D. thesis was nominated for the Governor General Gold Medal in Canada. He also pursues (hasn't completed yet) another Ph.D degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at CMU in order to strengthen his knowledge in signal processing. He received M.S. and B.S degrees in Computer Science from Concordia University and University of Natural Science in Vietnam respectively.

He was the valedictorian for the joint Faculty of Engineering & Computer Science and Faculty of Fine Arts convocation ceremony at Concordia University in 2014. He has published more than 50 papers in conferences and journals and received two best paper awards in IEEE International Conference on Biometrics: Theory, Applications and Systems (BTAS), Washington DC in 2011 and 2012. He filed three patents and four others pending patents in the pipe line. His research achievements have appeared in several media news in both Canada and U.S. He was a vice chair of Montreal Chapter IEEE SMCS in Canada from September 2009 to March 2011.

His research interests focus on various topics, including Biometrics, Image Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Multifactor Analysis, Correlation Filters and Compressed Sensing. He is currently a reviewer for several top-tier conferences and journals, such as: IEEE Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) 2018, IEEE Trans. on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI), IEEE Transaction on Image Processing (TIP), Journal of Pattern Recognition, Journal of Signal Processing, Journal of Image and Vision Computing, Journal of Pattern Recognition Letters, etc.
